Oh my, so much has happened in the last few weeks. As usual, I have filled my days with meetings from the time I get up until I go to bed at night. I have felt accomplished and fatigues all at the same time... and then it happened, I got a call from my daughter, “Mom, my COVID test came back positive.” My children are grown and living far away from me and all I want to do right now is jump on a airplane and hold her.

It is moments like these that bring me back to the importance of family. I talk to my children daily through text messages and phone calls and I wonder if that is enough. Immediately my mind goes to asking myself, “What else do I do to make my children feel loved?”

It is calming to know that she is not as distraught about the news as I am. She has called the doctor, gotten a test, become frustrated with her current confinement, reached out for support, read a book, and is nursing herself back to health. As I talk to her I understand how resilient she is and how much she is able to function in the darkest of times.

Although my children are grown and living on their own, I know they have learned to face challenges and make wise decisions. I have faith that they will make the best of what life has to offer them.
